New Delhi: A Mumbai-based businessman has lodged an FIR against the actor Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra, and some other people. The complaint has been registered by Nitin Barai on Saturday at Bandra police station.
According to the complainant, in July 2014, Kaashif Khan, the director of SFL Fitness company, along with Shilpa Shetty and others asked him to invest Rs 1.15 crore into an enterprise to earn profit. Barai claimed SFL Fitness company promised to provide him a franchise and open a gym and spa at Hadapsar and Koregaon in neighboring Pune, however, it did not materialise.
When the complainant asked for the money back, he was allegedly threatened, said the police quoting him. The FIR was registered under various Indian Penal Code Sections, including 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention). An investigation is under process.
The complaint came after three months post-Kundra was released from the Arthur Road jail. He was granted bail by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale on signing a bond of Rs 50,000.
Raj Kundra was arrested in July related to the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. Kundra was lodged in Arthur Road Jail in central Mumbai under judicial custody.
On the other hand, Shilpa Shetty stated that she was not aware of her husband’s activity as she was too busy with her work. The statement was recorded as per a supplementary charge sheet filed by Mumbai police in association with the case about pornographic films.
