Plot
At the center of the story is Kim Da-hyun, a warm, principled, and compassionate elementary school teacher who lives a modest, peaceful life. One ordinary day, her life takes a surprising turn when she comes across an elderly man who collapses just outside her school. Acting purely out of kindness, Da-hyun helps the man without asking for anything in return, unaware that this single act of compassion will upend her world.
The man she saves turns out to be Lee Kyu-chul, the influential and wealthy chairman of a vast corporate empire—and more importantly, the grandfather of Lee Jae-in, a cold, sharp-tongued heir known for his arrogance and no-nonsense attitude. Deeply moved by Da-hyun’s selflessness, the chairman decides to test his grandson’s character and priorities by making a bold and unusual amendment to his will.
The condition? Jae-in must enter into a relationship with Kim Da-hyun, win her heart, and marry her—or risk losing his entire inheritance.
This bizarre clause throws Da-hyun and Jae-in into a contract relationship with very real consequences. What begins as a reluctant partnership—complete with clashing personalities, frequent misunderstandings, and witty banter—gradually evolves into something deeper as the two begin to uncover hidden layers in one another. Da-hyun sees glimpses of vulnerability behind Jae-in’s icy demeanor, while Jae-in finds himself increasingly drawn to Da-hyun’s warmth and sincerity.
Set against the backdrop of family expectations, societal pressure, and emotional growth, Something About 1% beautifully explores the idea that love doesn’t always begin with a spark—it sometimes starts with a contract, a challenge, or even a misunderstanding. As Jae-in and Da-hyun navigate the strange circumstances that tie them together, they come to realize that even a one percent chance at love can be more than enough when fate and feelings collide.
