New Delhi: With South Indian cinema capturing a huge market, even Hindi-speaking audience is looking for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films on OTT. Topping in action and romance, South Indian cinema has made a mark for itself, with four diverse languages and diverse cultures to offer.
Weekends are for chilling and binge-watching, so here is a list of five South Indian films to watch on Saturday and Sunday:
1. Sita Ramam
Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur’s film ‘Sita Ramam’ has arrived at OTT. The film is written and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and follows an orphan soldier, Lieutenant Ram, whose life changes after he gets a letter from a girl named Sita. They meet and fall in love, however, when he comes back to his camp, he sends a letter to Sita which won’t reach her.
The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Bhoomika Chawla, Murli Sharma, and Sachin Khedekar. ‘Sita Ramam’ is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from September 9 onwards.
2. 7 Days 6 Nights
Directed by M.S. Raju, ‘7 Days 6 Nights’ follows Anand and Mangalam, friends with different mindsets. They travel to Goa on a bachelor’s trip and meet two girls, and Mangalam falls in love. Anand tries to stop him, as he’s already engaged and this makes a fun-filled story about friendship and romance.
The film stars Sumanth Ashwin, Meher Chahal and Kritika Shetty. The Telugu movie is streaming on Aha Video from September 9 onwards.
3. Tootu Madike
This fun tale of comedy, mystery and greed is directed by Chandra Keerthi. The Kannada film stars Pavana Gowda, Pramod Shetty and Chandra Keerthi. The film follows people living in a slum, who turn greedy and an antique figurine, linked to Indian Mythology is stolen.
Delivering a social message with a dose of laughter, ‘Tootu Madike’ is streaming on Voot from September 9.
4. Nna, Thaan Case Kodu
The Malayalam film revolves around a reformed thief’s fight for justice when an innocent act to defend himself places him opposite the high and mighty of society. Written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, the film stars Kunchacko Boban, Gayathrie, Rajesh Madhavan and others.
The exciting crime drama is streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
5. Paappan
Directed by Joshiy, ‘Paappan’ is a crime thriller that follows the Kerala Police being confronted by an ex-cop Abraham Mathew Mathan aka Paappan during an investigation. As Paappan dives deeper into the case, it has an emotional tryst in store for him.
The Malayalam film stars Suresh Gopi, Gokul Suresh, Neeta Pillai and Nyla Usha. The film is streaming on Zee5.
