More About the Series
This groundbreaking documentary series on the Cold War is brought to you by Luminant Media and directed by Brian Knappenberger. From the invention of the atomic bomb and its subsequent exponential growth in nuclear technology to the fall of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Putin’s ascent to power, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, this series chronicles the whole Cold War.
In Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War, over a hundred interviews from seven different nations provide first-hand accounts of the war’s impact on people’s lives and the course of history.
Featuring interviews with seven current or former world leaders—including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy—as well as former CIA Director Robert Gates, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and survivors of the atomic bomb drop on Hiroshima—and extensive filming in Ukraine, Germany, and some of the former Soviet Republics—the series delves into a wide range of topics.
Included in the series are notable Cold War characters, such as the son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg—notable German protest leaders who contributed to the fall of the Berlin Wall—and one of the last in-depth interviews with nuclear campaigner Daniel Ellsberg.
