Vigil Season 2 OTT Release Date: Suranne Jones starrer British crime mystery drama is coming back for the web streaming

New Delhi: The suspenseful thriller Vigil, which stars Suranne Jones and is produced by the BBC, is preparing for its debut in India. Fans of the police procedural drama cannot control their excitement as they await the May 31 debut of the second season on Lionsgate Play.

With production duties handled by World Productions, British police procedural drama series Vigil was conceived by Tom Edge. On August 29, 2021, the show made its debut on BBC One. Starring Suranne Jones, Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans, Paterson Joseph, Gary Lewis, and Martin Compston, the first series takes place in Scotland, mostly aboard the Royal Navy ballistic missile submarine HMS Vigil.

Season 2, which debuted in December 2023, presents improved action sequences and new technology in the context of drone warfare.

Plot

Season one takes place in Scotland and follows the investigation of the murder and inexplicable disappearance of a fishing ship.

Although Scotland is still central to season 2’s narrative, it expands beyond its naval setting and takes place in several other locales as well. While much of Season 1 occurred below the surface of the water in a sub, the events of Season 2 take place above ground and centre on lethal drones.

The plot centres on Silva’s squad, which has been given the highly desirable duty of identifying the killer responsible for the tragic hack of the Royal Air Force’s prototype combat drone. In their pursuit of the killer, police detectives Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre go into the murky realm of drone warfare. Season 2 elevates the procedural drama to a whole new level with its riveting storyline and multi-layered characters.

New episodes of Vigil season 2 premiered at 9 p.m. on BBC One on December 10, 2023. Lionsgate Play will make the second season of the action thriller Vigil accessible to Indian viewers on May 31, 2024.

Cast

Joining the brilliant ensemble for the second season are newcomers Dougray Scott and Romola Garai, as well as returning favourites Suranne Jones, Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans, and Gary Lewis.

Rose Leslie will portray DS Kirsten Longacre, while Suranne Jones will portray DCI Amy Silva. Among the other cast members are Oscar Salem, Tommy Sim’aan, David Elliot, Chris Jenks, and Amir El-Masry.
