Storyline of the Drama
The action-thriller show is based on the webcomic of the same name and follows the story of Kim Ji-Yong, an exemplary student at the Korean National Police University. On the one hand, he is a law enforcement hopeful undergoing training. But he also leads a secret life as a dark hero known as Vigilante, hunting down, and punishing fugitives from justice.
Kim Ji Yong’s mom was murdered on the road when he was a kid. The perpetrator got a minimal sentence of 3.5 years in jail. Kim Ji Yong now realises that his mother’s murderer hasn’t changed at all since he was a child. Ji Yong decides to handle the situation on his own and severely beats him.
During the week, he is an exemplary law enforcement student at the university. On the weekends, he metes out punishment to repeat offenders who have gotten minor terms yet continue to perpetrate crimes.
Kim Ji Yong’s moral compass is challenged by the grey area between good and evil, despite his good intentions. As a police officer, he is committed to aiding victims, but his decision to become a vigilante forces him to question what is right and what is wrong, setting the scene for an exciting story.
Casts and Crews
The cast of the Korean drama Vigilante has been largely responsible for the show’s heightened levels of anticipation among viewers. While many fans remember him from the recent blockbuster drama Start-Up, in which he portrayed the part of a young entrepreneur attempting to make it in the world, he’s also renowned for his well-known performances in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and Twenty-Five Twenty-One.
Kim So Jin ( as female lead Choi Mi Ryeo), Lee Joon Hyuk (as vigilante admirer Choi Kang Ok), and Yoon Ji Tae (as investigator Cho Heon) round out the drama’s other main roles.
Director: Choi Jeong Yeol
