New Delhi: Actor Rajinikanth responded days after facing criticism on social media for touching the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Recently, Rajinikanth visited the CM at his residence In Lucknow. In a statement to news agency ANI, Rajinikanth clarified that it is his customary practice to show reverence by touching the feet of spiritual leaders, regardless of their age.

Rajinikanth Response to The Criticism

On Monday night, Rajinikanth returned to Chennai after his travels. He briefly spoke to the media outside the airport, addressing the controversy about touching Yogi Adityanath’s feet. Rajinikanth explained that his actions were a sign of respect and that he follows this tradition when meeting Yogis or Sanyasis. He stated, “It is my habit to touch the feet of Yogis or Sanyasis and seek their blessings, even if they are younger than me. That is the only reason I did it.”

During their meeting last week, Rajinikanth greeted the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister with a namaste and subsequently touched his feet as a sign of respect. He also presented him with a flower bouquet, and they posed together for photographers. Various videos and pictures capturing this interaction were widely shared on social media platforms.

As per news agency PTI, Rajinikanth expressed gratitude to the public for the tremendous success of his recent movie, Jailer. However, when asked about the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he declined to discuss politics. During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth organized a special screening of Jailer, which was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Additionally, he paid a visit to the residence of Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav.
