16-year-old girl stabbed to death by 20-year-old boy in Shahbad Dairy, accused absconding

Delhi Police said that the accused Sahil and the deceased were in a relationship and had a quarrel, after which the girl was murdered.

New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death by a 20-year-old in Shahbad Dairy Police Station limits of Delhi. Delhi Police said that the accused Sahil and the deceased were in a relationship and had a quarrel, after which the girl was murdered. The accused is absconding and the search for him is underway.

The girl was planning to attend her friend’s son’s birthday when the accused stabbed her multiple times and even hit her with a stone which led to her demise. Delhi Police has registered an FIR under section 302 of IPC (Punishment for murder).

Deputy Commissioner of Police Suman Nalwa said that the murder case was reported yesterday and a team has been formed to investigate the case. Police have identified the accused DCP gave an assurance that they will soon arrest him.

The incident was caught on the CCTV camera and the video shared by some news portals shows that the public turned spectator to the murder and no one tried to stop the accused while he was stabbing the deceased. Her body was left on the streets after he, reportedly, stabbed her more than 20 times.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that the girl was stabbed 40-50 times. She also called out the people who saw it but did not pay heed. Calling Delhi ‘extremely unsafe for women’ she appealed to the central government to call a high-level meeting with Union Home Minister, Delhi LG, Delhi CM, and DCW chief.

The horrific incident comes after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death by a group of boys in Delhi’s Kalyanpuri. The incident was a result of old enmity between them.
