Muslim community religious leader shot dead in Maharashtra.

New Delhi: A Muslim community religious leader from Afghanistan was shot dead in Yeola town of Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Tuesday, police said.

It is said that the 35-year-old spiritual leader was attacked by a group of four unidentified persons. However, the motive is yet to be identified.

According to the Police, the incident is said to have taken placein the MIDC area of Yeola town in the evening, around 200 km from Mumbai.

Shot Dead

The victim has been identified as Khwaja Sayyad Chishti. The Official said that he was popularly known as ‘Sufi Baba’ in Yeola.

Official said that he died on the spot after being attacked in the forehead.

After the incident the attackers seized an SUV used by Sufi Baba and fled the crime spot.

Meanwhile, an offence of murder has been registered at the Yeola police station. Official said that a hunt is on to nab the killers.
