New Delhi: Days after Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce after almost 15 years of marriage, a senior BJP leader has sparked row with his controversial remarks on the Bollywood actor.
Sudhir Gupta, BJP MP from Mandsaur Sudhir Gupta on Monday claimed that people like Aamir Khan are behind the population imbalance.
“Talking in Indian perspective, people’s hero is Aamir Khan (Bollywood star) whose first wife Reena with kids and Kiran Rao with one kid has been left to wander around by Khan who is unbothered and has started the search for the third wife,” said the BJP lawmaker to media persons.
Sudhir Gupta was apparently taking a jibe at Lagaan actor, who recently parted ways with his second wife Kiran Rao.
“It’s ironical that people like Aamir Khan have a role to play in population imbalance in the country,” Gupta said.
“Those who claim that people like Khan have no brains for job other than selling eggs’ were correct”, BJP leader reportedly told CNN-News 18.
The BJP MP also quoted example of a woman ‘Ms Jojo’ of Faridabad who died of breast cancer after giving birth to 8th baby. Quoting the woman, he said that the woman was happy that her children would be propagating almighty’s message to the world.
Khan and his wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, announced their decision to end their 15-year-old marriage on July 3. Aamir and Kiran, who had been an assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker on the set of “Lagaan”, got married in 2005. The couple had a son named Azad Rao Khan via surrogacy in 2011.
