Visva-Bharati, an esteemed central university of rich heritage situated in Shanti Niketan,West Bengal, not participating in CUET-PG is a clear sign of the current university administration being unconcerned about the transparency of admission process. ABVP believes that aligning Visva-Bharati admission process with CUET PG will enhance the global standing and reputation of the university.
The University authority has brought the issue of lack of infrastructure as a limitation for conducting the exam, which is completely absurd as CUET is just an entrance examination and has nothing to do with infrastructure of the University or whatsoever. The current Acting Vice Chancellor’s reluctant stance to abstain from CUET-PG is a bad precedent for a central university like Visva-Bharati.
ABVP State Secretary of DakshinBanga province Shri Anirudha Sarkar stated, “ABVP Visva-Bharati Unit has submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of the University concerning the conduction of CUET PG as was held last year in the University. If no subsequent step is taken, ABVP will submit a complaint to the UGC and Ministry of Education respectively. ABVP will fight for Visva-Bharati’s heritage and excellence.”
ABVP National Secretary Shri Buddhadev Bagh stated, “Despite being a central university, Visva-Bharati is not giving admissions through CUET PG this year. If CUET is not adopted according to the UGC guidelines due to vested interests, admission procedure will be heavily affected further leading to a den of corruption.
The concerned University authorities perhaps don’t want the diversity and inclusiveness for which Visva-Bharati is known across the country.”
