Amid CBI heat on Sisodia, AAP alleges ‘Operation Lotus’; BJP rubbishes claims

Manish Sisodia, facing the CBI heat said on Monday that he was “offered CM’s post” by BJP and was also assured of all case closures if quits AAP and joins the saffron outfit.

New Delhi: The war of words between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) escalated on Tuesday as the former added fresh twist to ‘defection offer’ to Manish Sisodia by the saffron party.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj today addressed media and claimed that Operation Lotus has been foiled in Delhi. The same was tweeted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who claimed that the ED & CBI raids were just a sham and the main objective of this was to topple AAP government in Delhi.

AAP has been levelling direct charges on BJP after CBI conducted raids at Manish Sisodia’s residence. It claims that BJP’s machinations about plotting the downfall of Delhi government has been exposed and thwarted.

The AAP leader also alleged that a couple of AAP MLAs were offered Rs 5 crore to lure them into BJP camp. He also promised ‘big revelations’ in the case and said that the party has ‘ample video evidence’ to back its claims of ‘Operation Lotus’.

The AAP claim follows Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s allegation that the BJP offered him to switch loyalties, get free from scam links and become the Chief Minister from saffron party.
AAP-BJP slugfest over Sisodia

Manish Sisodia, facing the CBI heat said on Monday that he was “offered CM’s post” by BJP and was also assured of all case closures if quits AAP and joins the saffron outfit.

The direct charge on BJP-led Centre further fuelled the ongoing slugfest between ruling AAP and rival BJP over Delhi’s flawed excise policy.

BJP dismisses claims

The BJP has denied the charge and called this ‘ playing of victim card.

Replying to charges, the BJP dubbed this as diversionary tactics by AAP dispensation to deflect attention from ‘corruption tainted’ liquor policy.

The BJP leaders also challenged AAP leadership to release the tapes that it claims to have.

The alleged scam was reported last month when Delhi LG recommended a CBI probe into alleged violations and procedural lapses in implementation of the excise policy.
