New Delhi: A case of molestation against a 21-year-old college girl in the early hours of the day by an auto driver, in Maharashtra’s Thane has come to the fore. The matter emerged when a video of the incident surfaced online, leaving social media users baffled.
The incident took place at around 6:40 am on Friday, when the victim was on her way to the college. According to the police, the matter began when the accused auto driver made some remark about the girl student, to which she objected, after which the accused forcefully tried to pull her inside the vehicle.
When the victim caught hold of the driver, he tried to escape the spot and dragged the victim for nearly 500 metres, leaving her seriously injured. After being dragged from the three-wheeler, the girl fell on the road while the accused fled the scene.

A complaint was registered with the local police in the matter under section 354 and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the auto driver, a senior inspector told.
The accused was later tracked down and arrested by the police.
