Bajrang Dal workers protest against ‘Pathaan’ promotion at Ahmedabad mall, destroy posters

An unverified Twitter handle of Bajrang Dal Gujarat shared the videos and warned the multiplex for releasing the film.

New Delhi: Bajrang Dal workers protested against the promotion of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer movie ‘Pathaan’ at a mall in the Karnavati area of Ahmedabad. They were seen destroying the posters of the film and chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans.  An unverified Twitter handle of Bajrang Dal Gujarat shared the videos and warned the multiplex for releasing the film.

Sharing the video, the account wrote that they won’t let Shah Rukh and Deepika’s film run and if the multiplex releases it, they will show their attitude. The workers also called for a boycott of the film.

‘Pathaan’ is facing a backlash after the song ‘Besharam Rang’, which is being boycotted as some Hindu outfits claim that Deepika’s “bhagwa” bikini and the lyrics are disrespectful to their religion. The matter caught fire when Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra called for its boycott. BJP and other Hindu outfit workers have also called for a ban on the film.

In the latest developments, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the filmmakers to do some “changes” in the film and the songs.

Alongside Shah Rukh and Deepika, ‘Pathaan’ also stars John Abraham. In the film, SRK plays an R&AW spy named Pathaan. ‘Pathaan’ also features a cameo by Salman Khan, which is expected to star as Tiger, another R&AW agent from Yash Raj Films. The film is scheduled to release on January 25.
