BJP files complaint with EC against Priyank Kharge’s ‘Naalayak son’ remark on PM Modi

BJP replied back for the remark and went on to approach EC for the alleged remark made by Priyank Kharge.

New Delhi: Karnataka BJP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Congress MLA Priyank Kharge for his “Naalayak Son” remark for PM Narendra Modi. BJP replied back for the remark and went on to approach EC for the alleged remark made by Priyank Kharge. The incident came after Priyank’s father and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge allegedly called PM Modi a ‘poisonous snake’.

Addressing the public, Priyank Kharge took a jibe at PM Modi’s ‘son from the Banjara community sitting in Delhi’ remark in Kalaburgi. He asked that with such a useless son (nalayak beta) how will the house be run?

Priyank faced a backlash for his statement as BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje called him out and BJP President JP Nadda called Congress ‘mentally bankrupt’. BJP leaders across Karnataka and central command took a jibe at Congress for the remark and leaders, including PM Modi himself, have made such remarks against the Prime Minister an issue in the state ahead of the Assembly Elections.

Election Commission is expected to look into the matter and there might be some problems for Congress ahead.

Earlier, when Mallikarjun Kharge made the ‘poisonous snake’ remark, he issued a clarification that it was not targeted towards PM Modi but was for the ideology carried by RSS and BJP. Mallikarjun also addressed the media on the ongoing issue and said that Priyank did not target PM Modi, the statement was for the MP who abused him.

There have been such remarks from both sides as BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, in a public meeting, called former Congress President Sonia Gandhi ‘vishkanya’ (venomous woman).

Karnataka Assembly Polls will be conducted on May 10 while the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
