BJP suspends Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal from party’s primary membership

Nupur Sharma suspended from BJP’s primary membership for her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.

New Delhi : BJP leader Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal has been suspended from primary membership of BJP today

She has been removed for her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.

Meanwhile, Naveen Kumar Jindal tweeted about Prophet Muhammad, which he later deleted it.

Later, BJP released a suspension order for Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal.

The suspension letter read, “You have expressed your views contrary to the party’s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of  Rue 10(a) of constitution of the Bhartiya Janata Party.”

This comes soon after the BJP issued the statement as Sharma’s controversial remarks had allegedly hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.

Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had issued a press release in which it said that the party respects all religions and it is against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion.

This statement came amid threats by Islamists to BJP National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma over alleged ‘blasphemy’.

Following Nupur Sharma’s statement on TV debate, a violence broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Friday (June 3).

According to police, at least 40 people, including 20 police personnel, were injured during the clashes.

So far three FIRs has been registered against Nupur Sharma.
