CBI yet to take up Hathras case probe, agency hasn’t got notification

New Delhi: Following nation-wide uproar over alleged gangrape of 19-year-old girl, Yogi govt formed SIT team to probe the horrific murder of Hathras girl and also her force cremation in the dead of night. It also recommended
CBI probe into the case and filed in affidavit in the Supreme regarding the same.

However, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is yet to begin investigation of the case. As per reports, the investigation agency is yet to get any notification for taking up the case.

Sources in the know-how of things claim that due to some technicalities, the handing over of Hathras case to CBI has been delayed.

As per the rules, UP Home Ministry will issue a notification under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, following which DOPT will issue directions to the premiere agency for taking up investigation in the Hathras case.
