New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Priya, a 17-year-old football player died on Tuesday (November 15) at the Rajiv Gandhi government hospital in Chennai. Priya, a college-going student had her leg amputated by peripheral hospital doctors in an alleged botched surgery.

Priya’s parents have alleged medical negligence by the staff. Following the death of the 17-year-old, Health Minister Ma Subramanian has said that the two doctors who were involved in the negligent surgery have been suspended.

Also, he has assured them that legal action would be taken against them.

Priya’s last WhatsApp status updates said that she would be back soon. She has also asked her relatives and friends not to worry and that her game would never leave her. She had asked them to trust in her and that she would return.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu state BJP chief Annamalai said he is shocked after knowing that a footballer Priya died during wrong treatment. He expressed his condolences to the family.

Attacking the DMK regime, he said every department is destroyed.

In the Tweet, he further said that it’s disappointing that the medical department has joined that list. The government should suspend both doctors, provide a government job for a family member and grant a solatium of 2 crore rupees.
