New Delhi: Chhath Puja Mahaparv is one of the most popular Hindu festivals in the Hindi heartland. The festival is celebrated in almost every second home of North Indian states like Bihar, Jharkhand & Uttar Pradesh. The ghats & ponds in metro cities also like Delhi & Mumbai are  thronged with Chhath vratis, thereby showing the scale of festivity.

As the festival kicks off on October 28, here we bring a collection of popular folk songs that elevate the festive feel by many times. Chhath Puja songs, sung by famed & Padma Bhushan awardee Sharda Sinha remain the most popular till date and without playing them, the festivities remain incomplete. Sharda Sinha’s rendition of Chhath songs not just sets the festive atmosphere and also fill the vratis with more devotion & power.

Today, the Chatth Puja started with Nahay Khai and will culminate with morning Arga on the last day. Tomorrow, Chhath vratis will observe Kharna following which 36-hour fasting period will begin. The day after, evening arga will be conducted.

This is another melodious song by Sharda Sinha. The track is played on all days as it motivates the vratis to worship the Lord Son with full commitment & devotion.

3) Uthau Sooraj Bhaile Bihaan


This is another popular song and encapsulates all the rituals associated with the Chhath Puja.

There are a couple of other Chhath songs by popular Bollywood singers including Anuradha Paudwal & Alka Yagnik that went on to win the hearts of people.


They are Kabahun naa Chhoti Chhath and Uga Hai Suraj Dev. Both of these songs have enormous views & likes on YouTube and are also played during the festival.
