CM Yogi announces Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to kin of lightning strike victims in UP

At least 13 people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike during rain and thunderstorm in the state, an official statement said on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has announced Rs 4 lakh an ex-gratia to next of the kin of the lightning strike victims in Kaushambi and Ballia district.

The Chief Minister also expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives in the lightning strikes.

At least 13 people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike during rain and thunderstorm in the state, an official statement said on Tuesday.

This happened in different districts including Kaushambi, Chitrakoot and others.

“In the incidents of lightning on Tuesday, four people were killed in Ghazipur, three in Kaushambi, two each in Kushinagar and Chitrakoot, one each in Jaunpur and Chandauli,” a news agency reported quoting Relief commissioner Sanjay Goel.

Taking note of these incidents, UP CM spoke to the respective District Magistrates (DMs) and directed them to provide Rs 4 lakh financial assistance to family members of those killed in lightning strikes.
