New Delhi: Despite COVID-19 lockdown in place, hundreds of people gathered in West Bengal’s Murshidabad for Friday prayers, defying the nation-wide lockdown and making mockery of social distancing norms.

A video of the Friday’s gathering at the mosque went viral, showing a large number of people coming out of the religious place.

In the video, a police officer in plain clothes can be seen making an announcement urging people to vacate the area. Young men as well as elderly people can be seen exiting the mosque.
According to reports, the West Bengal police has taken no action against the Imam of the mosque and the people who had gathered there despite violating the government order.
