New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police on Tuesday busted a drug racket and recovered over 1.12 kg heroine, which costs more than Rs 7 crores in the international market.
Delhi Police nabbed 2 Punjab based drug peddlars and caught hold of Nigerian from the capital who supplied drugs to them. The two traffickers have been identified as Gursewak Singh & Amritpal Singh while the Nigerian is said to have been living illegally in the country without any passport or visa. Police have invoked Section 14A Foreigner’s Act against him and launched a probe to track the bigger fishes.
A Tip-off and crackdown on drug-trafficking gang
Mohan Garden police team received a tip-off about activity of 2 Punjab based drug-pedallers in the area, following which it laid a trap at around 10 AM. A team led by Rajesh Maurya, Mohan Garden SHO and under supervision of Joginder Joon, ACP/Najafgarh swung into action and captured the drug traffickers within hours. The two accused tried to flee when they saw police team but were overpowered by the latter. The two accused have been identified as Gursewak Singh & Amritpal Singh, both in their late 20s.
About 650 gms of heroine was seized from them. Upon interrogation, they revealed that they had come from Punjab to receive consignment from a Nigerian. The police tracked the whereabouts of Nigerian national and nabbed the 36-year old supplier, from whose possession, 472 gm heroine was recovered.
Total amount of 1.122 kg heroine seized from 3 accused includes 1.122 kg, whose value is more than Rs 7 crores in the international market.
