Delhi’s Jahangirpuri: Miscreants pelt stones during procession on Hanuman Jayanti; police personnel injured

In New Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, miscreants pelted stones at a religious procession organised on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. 

New Delhi: In New Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, miscreants pelted stones at a religious procession organised on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.  The procession is called ‘Shobha Yatra’. According to the reports, a ruckus was reported between the people of the two communities. During the incident, a few policemen received injuries.

Soon after the incident was reported, Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra shared his reaction on Twitter in Hindi. In the tweet, he blamed the illegal immigrants of Bangaladesh for the incident.

The injured ones have been admitted to the nearest hospital. Talking about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anyesh Rai said we have deployed additional forces to keep the situation under control.

Delhi Commissioner of police said in his tweet that Senior officers have been asked to remain in the field and closely supervise the law & order situation and undertake patrolling.

He added in his follow-up tweet that strict action will be taken against rioters.

On the untoward incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people to maintain peace and security.

On Twitter, Delhi CM said he has spoken to LG Anil Baijal about the incident. ”He assured that all steps are being taken to ensure peace and that guilty will not be spared,” read the tweet further.

The Home Ministry has also ramped up the security of the Shaheen Bagh area.
