Fighting Covid-19: Yogi govt announces Sero Survey from June 4

The survey will involve testing the blood serum of a group of individuals to determine the presence of antibodies against corona infection. The report of this survey is expected to be released by the end of June.

New Delhi: Striving to understand the prevalence of COVID-19 in the urban and remote areas of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to conduct a ‘Sero Survey’.

The Serological Survey which will be launched from June 4 will help find the volume of immunity against the coronavirus being developed in the state’s people.

Stating that it is necessary to conduct the survey, the CM issued directions in this regard while addressing a high level meeting on Monday. Subsequent to his directions, the health department will collect the samples from June 4 and make will an assessment of the updated status of infection at different scales including gender and age.

How Does Sero Survey Help?

There are people who did not perform RT-PCR tests and could be asymptomatic, in this situation, sero surveys could be a significant step at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In serological surveys, medical professionals look for IGG against COVID-19 which helps in finding who has developed immunity against the pandemic virus.

Many microbiologists explained that when infection attacks, the body combats with a protective immune response producing an antibody, a kind of protein, called immunoglobulin (IG). But in the case of coronavirus infection, scientists look for IG-M and IG-G from the host of IGs present in the body.

Yogi Govt targets to vaccinate 1 crore in June

With a recovery rate of around 97 percent and a positivity rate below 1 percent, the Yogi Government has taken an initiative to run a vaccination campaign that will target one crore people of the state in the month of June.
