Good News! Indian railways reduces the price of AC 3-tier economy class tickets

Officials said after the merger of AC 3-tier economy, the passengers had to pay an extra amount of Rs 60-70.

New Delhi: Indian Railways has issued an order to restore the fare for AC 3-tier economy class travel after it was withdrawn in November last year when it was merged with AC 3-tier on Wednesday.

After the price of AC 3-tier economy class is restored, the passengers will still be offered linen.

Earlier, the fare for AC 3-tier economy class ticket was made equal to the fare of an AC 3-tier ticket. The reason behind the increase in fare was the linen.

After the restoration of the order, the passengers will be given a refund of the extra amount for the pre-booked tickets who have booked tickets online and through the counter.

Officials said after the merger of AC 3-tier economy, the passengers had to pay an extra amount of Rs 60-70.

The three-tier economy coaches were introduced by the Railway Board to provide the ‘Best and Cheapest AC travel’ service. The rate of these coaches is 6-7 percent less than the usual AC 3 tier.

After its introduction of  AC-3 tier economy class, the Railways earned Rs 231 crore in the first year.

According to the data, over 15 lakh people travelled in these coaches from April-August, 2022.
