‘Govt is ensuring peace…’: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann addresses media over security concern in state

He said that Punjab’s glory of development will be visible in the country in the upcoming 6-7 months.

New Delhi: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann addressed the press on the issues of security in the state after the Ajnala incident and the rise of sympathisers for Khalistan. The CM said that the government is ensuring peace and security for its 3 crore people. He said that Punjab’s glory of development will be visible in the country in the upcoming 6-7 months.

The AAP government also faced a backlash for MLA Amit Rattan Kotfatta being arrested for corruption. For assurance and credibility, CM Bhawant Mann mentioned that for the first time ever, a party has taken action against two of their own ministers and one MLA for corruption. He said that the government is working towards corruption-free Punjab.

Addressing the Ajnala incident, the CM said that it is wrong to use Sri Guru Granth Sahib as a shield in protest and the person doing so does not deserve to be called the heir of Punjab. He thanked the Punjab Police that they saved Shri Guru Granth Sahib from being insulted.

Noting the work done by his government in the state, he mentioned that so far around 28,000 employees have been given permanent status and they gave government jobs and appointment letters to 27,000 people. He said that Tata Steel is starting the country’s second-largest plant in Punjab and progress is being made in every field.

The Ajnala police station witnessed protesters protesting against the arrest of Lovepreet Singh aka Lovepreet Toofan in a kidnapping case. The protest turned violent as people pelted stones and attacked police personnel with sharp weapons. This was followed by a backlash over the government over the law and order situation in the state.
