Gurugram: Thieves pay visit to Vaishno Devi after Rs 1 crore loot, arrested

The three other accused paid a visit to Vaishno Devi temple in order to offer their prayers for the success of their robbery

New Delhi: The people has successfully arrested six persons, who allegedly looted around Rs 1 crore from a cash van at gunpoint last week near Subash Chowk. Apart from these six accused, one of the persons involved, who is said to be a native of Uttar Pradesh in the theft is currently absconding.

Earlier this month, one of the cash van’s of M/s S&IB Private Limited of Delhi’s Jhandewalan was stopped at gunpoint, while the gang looted the cash of nearly Rs 1 crore after throwing chilli powder in driver’s eyes.

As per the news reports, before submitting the cash to the bank, the van used to collect cash at T1 and T3 parking including various other locations in the area.

The CCTV footage revealed that the alto car which was used to carry out the crime was furnished with a fake number plate. It was later found out the car was originally registered in Delhi’s Chhatarpur.

One Diwankar Arora alias Mannu was tracked down by the police and arrested on Thursday night, who unveiled the other members of the gang including Neel Kamal from Chhatarpur, Jony from Faridabad, Gulab from Palwal, and Jitender alias Jeetu from Bihar.

It was revealed in the investigation that while Jeetu had left for his hometown, the three other accused paid a visit to Vaishno Devi temple in order to offer their prayers for the success of their robbery.

On the information, three teams of police were deployed at Pathankot, Katra, and Shambhu borders to catch the accused. All three were arrested at the Shambhu border near Ambala toll plaza on Saturday night.

After preliminary interrogation, two more accused Javed and Kulbir were also arrested. Kulbir, Javed, and Kamal are childhood friends, told a police officials.
