New Delhi: The government has ordered blocking of 7 Indian and 1 Pakistan-based YouTube news channels blocked under IT Rules, 2021.
The blocked YouTube channels had over 114 crore views, and 85 lakh 73 thousand subscribers.
Ministry of I&B said fake anti-India content was being monetized by the blocked channels on YouTube.
The Pakistan-based channel is called ‘News ki Dunya’ with over 1 lakh subscribers.
The release further said that these channels were spreading disinformation related to India’s national security, foreign relations & public order.

In the latest action taken by the Centre, a Facebook account has also been blocked using emergency powers under IT Rules 2021, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said today in its release.
Earlier, in April this year several YouTube channels were blocked on similar case, out of which four were from Pakistan and others were from India.
