New Delhi: A day after noisy & violent brawl in West Bengal Assembly, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Naren Chakraborty has courted controversy with his ‘threatening’ remarks against the electorate.

BJP IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya on Tuesday shared a video of the TMC legislator and claimed that he was issuing open threats to voters of the saffron party. He also urged the Election Commission to take note of the video and accused Mamata dispensation of patronising such motormouth MLAs.

In the video that went viral on social media, Naren Chakraborty is heard telling BJP voters

“If they did not vote, they could stay in the state and do a job or business and the TMC would support them,” the MLA is reportedly heard saying in the video.

Sharing the video, Amit Malviya said, “TMC’s Pandaveswar (Asansol) MLA Naren Chakraborty, is seen issuing open threats to BJP voters and supporters, asking them not to come out and vote, or else face consequences. Such criminals should be behind bars but in Bengal Mamata Banerjee patronizes them. ECI must take note.”

Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, also recalled Naren’s tryst with the law and informed that he was once arrested by police under Arms Act.

TMC MLA’s warning to BJP voters, ahead of by-polls

TMC MLA’s open threat comes days ahead of by-polls in Asansol Lok Sabha seat and 4 assembly seats, scheduled for April 12. Asansol seat fell vacant after sitting MP Babul Supriyo resigned from the seat, after quitting BJP. Ballygunge Assembly seat fell vacant after sitting MLA Subrata Mukherjee in Bengal government died last year, following illness.

TMC has fielded heavyweight candidates from both the constituencies. Actor turned politician Shatrughan Sinha is fighting from Asansol while Babul Supriyo is contesting from Asansol seat. A fierce battle is expected in both seats.
