In freezing Leh, Jal Jeevan Mission bringing tap water to homes; see how it is progressing (VIDEO)

In a video released by Prasar Bharati Ladakh, one can see how ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Mission is progressing in Doltokling, a remote & inaccessible hamlet in Leh district, located 4,000 above sea level.

New Delhi: Leh, the capital of Ladakh perched at over 11,000 feet height in the Himalyas, has become the latest beneficiary of Jal Jeevan Mission. Many villages of the freezing town have got access to the tap water and the locals are elated & joyous over the development. In as many as 21 villages, people are getting safe, drinking water on regular basis. This has mitigated their daily water woes to a great extent.

Locals are full of praise for Modi government for doing what the previous regimes either ignored or put it on the backburner.

In a video released by Prasar Bharati Ladakh, one can see how ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Mission is progressing in Doltokling, a remote & inaccessible hamlet in Leh district, located 4,000 above sea level.

Pony tails are being used to transport water pipes & accessories to higher locations and are laid down 5.5 feet deep into the ground to avoid freezing in sub-zero temperatures.

A sarpanch of Rumbak Haiqa, expressing joy over the development, praised the Centre effusively.

“No government before PM Modi came to our help. But, now we are getting water at our doorstep,” he said.

The hilly town mostly remains snowbound and covered with snow round the year. Chilly temperature, breezy winds and picturesque location make it a perfect tourist destination but the shortage was water always remained a major drawback here. However, with the Jal Jeevan Mission reaching thousands of homes in Leh, the situation on ground has changed drastically.

The Jal Jeevan Mission, one of the flagship programmes of Modi government aims to extend tap water connection to all households by 2024. The program has made considerable progress, reaching all parts of the country and providing safe & drinking water to those living in remote locations.
