‘It is symbol of aspiration of 140 cr people of India…’: PM Modi at New Parliament Building inauguration

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and dedicated to the nation the new Parliament Building. He released a stamp and Rs 75 coin to mark the occasion and addressed the gathering which called the new Parliament historic. He said that some moments become immortal in the development journey of every country and 28th May is such a day.

Talking about the new Parliament, he said that this is not just a building, but the symbol of the aspiration of the 140 crore people of India. Talking about its global symbolism, he said that it gives a message to the world about India’s determination, and when India develops, the world develops.

About ‘Sengol’, PM Modi said that in the Chola dynasty, the ‘Sengol’ was a symbol of justice, righteousness, and good governance. He added that when the proceedings will start in this House the ‘Sengol’ will inspire the Members of Parliament.

PM Modi once again called India the mother of democracy and said that democracy is our ‘Sanskaar’, ideas, and tradition. He said that India was left with a Colonial mindset and noted the new Parliament to break the shackles.

Addressing the need for new Parliament, he said that the number of seats and MPs will increase in the coming time, so the new Parliament was the need of the hour. Lauding India’s federalism, PM Modi mentioned the works done by the BJP government in last nine years, he said that the governemnt built new panchayat bhawans to Sansad bhawan. He added that in the last nine years, homes for four crore poor people and 11 crore toilets have been constructed.

Talking about modern facilities in the new Parliament, he mentioned that they have constructed over four lakh kilometres of roads to connect villages in the country. He also lauded the work done by the construction workers and talked about whole of India’s contribution to the new Parliament.
