Jahangirpuri shooter Sonu Chikna lifted by Delhi cops, looks unnerved; used ‘sophisticated’ pistol (VIDEO)

Zeroing on the footage in which Sonu Chikna was wearing a blue kurta firing the weapon, the cops launched a manhunt and nabbed him last night.

New Delhi: Sonu Chikna alias Yunus, who fired at the Delhi police during Jahangirpuri violence and communal clashes was arrested by Delhi Police crime branch last night. The accused was on the run after video of his shooting went viral on social media.

Zeroing on the footage in which Sonu Chikna was wearing a blue kurta firing the weapon, the cops launched a manhunt and nabbed him last night. A couple of media persons tried to confront him while he was being taken to police station, the shooter didn’t utter a word and rather looked unnerved.

Two key accused Ansar & Aslam are already under one-day police custody for indulging in stone pelting and instigating the rioters during Hanumna Jayanti Shobha Yatra clashes.

Till now, a total of 23 people have been arrested in connection with the violence that happened on Saturday. Organisers of Shobha Yatra have also been booked for taking out procession without permission.

Sonu fired shots from ‘sophisticated’ pistol

According to police, the 28-year accused used a ‘sophisticated’ for firing shots during the clashes. DCP (North-West) Usha Rangnani told newsmen that a sophisticated weapon was recovered from his custody.

Ragpicker with ‘riot connection’ held

As the riots conspiracy gets unearthed, cops have found startling connection between ragpickers & violence that happened on Hanuman Jayanti.
Police have also arrested a ragpicker who reportedly arranged bottles for the riots. While stone-pelting took place between two sides on Saturday, a couple of rioters hurled inflammable bottles at the other end.

When Delhi police went to interrogate Sonu Chikna at his residence, he was found to be on the run. Also, the police team came under attack as those in the vicinity started pelting stones at them. Following this, heavy police deployment has been done in the area.
