Junmoni Rabha Dies: Assam’s ‘Lady Singham’ killed in road accident.

New Delhi: Junmoni Rabha, Assam Police sub-inspector who was named in several controversies, was killed after her car collided head-on with a container truck in Nagaon district on early Tuesday, officials said.

Junmoni Rabha, who was 30 year-old was populary known as ‘Lady Singham’ or ‘Dabang cop’.

The incident took place while she was travelling alone in her private car and she was not in uniform at Sarubhugia village under Jakhalabandha police station of Kaliabor Sub-Division.

Hours before the accident, an extortion case was registered against her.

The accident case will be investigated by CID.

Meanwhile, the family members of Junmoni Rabha is suspecting foul play. Also, they have demanded an impartial probe into the accident.

Jakhalabandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pawan Kalita said that after the police patrol party recieved the information about the accident at around 2:30 am, soon the police team reached the accident site and she was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

The container truck which had hit SI’s car had registration number of Uttar Pradesh. The tuck was seized by the police. However, the driver fled from the spot after the accident.

Police official also said that they had no clue as to why the SI was going alone in civil clothes in her private car towards Upper Assam.

The family members also said that they had no information about her movement.

Meanwhile, the mother of deceased’s SI, Sumitra Rabha alleged that it was a case of pre-planned murder.
