Kheer Bhawani Mela: Kashmiri Pandits reunite in Valley at temple of revered goddess amid tight security

Adequate security arrangements have been made in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions for the successful completion of the pilgrimage

New Delhi: There is an atmosphere of panic and fear amid the religious minorities of Kashmir – the Kashmiri Pandits, due to several incidents of target killings in valley in the recent times.

While the Indian Army and paramilitary forces are continuously cracking down on the terrorists, the holy Kheer Bhawani Yatra for the year has begun once again under the shadow of terror.

After two consecutive years, the holy fair has been held at the Kheer Bhawani Temple in Ganderbal amidst target killing of Pandits in the Kashmir Valley. A large number of devotees have reached Ganderbal to participate in this fair.

On Tuesday, the bus of pilgrims from Jammu reached Ganderbal from various parts of the country.

Around 250 devotees reached the Kheer Bhavani temple via a fleet of government buses that left from Jammu on Tuesday.

Officials told that elaborated security arrangements have been made in and around Kashmir. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, this fair is being organized after a gap of almost two years.

Adequate security arrangements have been made in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions for the successful completion of the pilgrimage.

For the not known, the Temple is about 35 km from Srinagar, and is considered to be the holy place of revered deity of Kashmiri Pandits.

Kheer Bhavani fairs are organized in five temples across Kashmir. The pilgrims will visit the temple on Wednesday and return to Jammu a day later.
