Madarsa teacher held for sexually abusing 13-year old boy; sent to 11 years jail

The Maulana has been identified as Mufti Musharaf, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was teaching at a madrassa near Amalapur in Karnataka’s Tumakuru at the time of the incident.

New Delhi: A Madarsa teacher has been awarded rigorous imprisonment for 11 years by a special court in the Tumakuru district in Karnataka. The punishment along with an Rs.30,000 fine has been awarded in a 2015 case, in which the court held the Maulana guilty of sodomising and threatening a 13-year-old minor boy.

The Maulana has been identified as Mufti Musharaf, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was teaching at a madrassa near Amalapur in Karnataka’s Tumakuru at the time of the incident. The incident took place back in April 17, 2015, when Musharaf asked the minor boy to help him book a train ticket to his native place in Uttar Pradesh.

He urged the victim to accompany him to the railway station as he would need his help in language translation. The boy agreed to go along with the teacher. Though, while on their way to the railway station, Musharaf transpired him to spend a night with him at a nearby hotel, where he perpetrated the heinous crime.

However, the incident came to light two days later when the victim’s mother came to see him in the Madarsa. Horrified by the incident,boy broke down seeing his mother and narrated it to his mother. Afterward, the police registered a case against the Maulana under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.
