Madhya Pradesh: Communal clashes, houses and vehicles set ablaze, police officials attacked in Raigarh

The mob attacked the police and the administration team, stones were also pelted on the vehicle of SDM and the station in charge of the area

New Delhi: A land dispute between two communities formed into a violent clash in Madhya Pradesh Raigad on Wednesday late at night. The fight between the two communities was followed by arson and vandalism. At present, a large number of police forces have been deployed in the area.

The Karni village of Raigad saw a lot of uproar on Wednesday night. Angered by the incident of assault, the accused’s house was set on fire and many vehicles including motorcycles and cars were also vandalized.

The mob also attacked the police and the administration team that reached the spot after getting information regarding the violence. Stones were also pelted on the vehicle of SDM and the station in charge of the area.

According to the reports, one named Allaveli attacked Mohan Verma first, after which the close relatives of Mohan Verma started beating Allaveli’s sons.

Soon the fight turned into violence and the mob set up Allaveli’s house on fire. Persons from both sides including policemen have been injured in the incident.

Top officials present on spot

Raigarh SP Pradeep Sharma told news agency ANI, “A clash broke out between two groups in Karedi village. A shop and 2-3 motorcycles were set ablaze. Two people were admitted to the hospital & their condition is normal. We dispersed the crowd using tear gas & the situation is under control”.

At present, a large number of police forces have been deployed in Kareni village in view of the violence. The administration is fully alert so that the situation does not worsen.
