Maharashtra: Man dies while playing Garba in Virar; father dies of shock after hearing about son’s death

After learning about son’s death, the man’s father also collapsed and died on the spot.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man died while dancing at a Garba event in Virar town of Maharashtra’s Palghar district, said police on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Manish Narapji Sonigra. He collapsed while dancing at a garba event at Global City complex in Virar on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Soon after he collapsed, he was rushed to a hospital by his father Narapji Sonigra (66) and was declared dead. After learning about son’s death, the man’s father also collapsed and died on the spot.

The officials said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a case of accidental death has been registered.

In a similar incident, a 21-year-old man died after he collapsed while dancing to Garba in Gujarat’s Anand district. According to the reports, he is was soon rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

The victim was identified as Virendra Singh Ramesh. Doctors suspect that he died of heart attack. The whole incident was captured by his friend on his mobile phone.

Earlier, a 20-year-old artist had died on stage during a live show in Jammu.

However, medical experts believed that these people may have died due to energetic dance performances.
