Talking to the press, Kharge said that the meeting was a courtesy call and Jagdeep Dhankar spoke about how everyone must cooperate in running the second phase of the budget session.

New Delhi: Congress President and Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at Rashtrapati Nivas, Delhi ahead of the second phase of the budget session in Parliament. Talking to the press, Kharge said that the meeting was a courtesy call and Jagdeep Dhankar spoke about how everyone must cooperate in running the second phase of the budget session.

He also mentioned the opposition meeting on March 13 and said that they will have a Congress meeting after that.

The budget session initially witnessed the opposition raising questions about the alleged relationship between Gautam Adani and PM Narendra Modi, following the report published by Hindenburg Research. Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the Rajya Sabha Chairperson, would have asked Kharge to be cooperative in the proceedings in the second phase.

The opposition leaders will meet at the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha’s office in the Parliament complex around 10 am and are likely to discuss the strategy to corner the government on issues of Adani and China, also financial problems like unemployment. While Kharge, on March 11, condemned the use of ED to summon Bihar Deputy CM, it is likely that the opposition will discuss the matter of the use of central agencies on opposition leaders.

Congress will have their own meeting after this and the party is likely to continue with their demand of joint parliamentary committee (JPC) for the Adani row.
