New Delhi: Officials on Monday said that they have arrested a man from Agra for allegedly raping a 62-year-old American woman. Police also said that the man was allegedly raping her on the pretext of marriage.
The man has been identified as Gagandeep (32), and he owns a homestay in Agra.
According to the vicitim, in her complaint she had alleged that in 2017 she came to India and stayed at Gagandeep’s homestay.
Police said that after she and Gagandeep became friends they eventually got into a relationship.
For the next few years, on several occassions she kept on visiting India to meet Gagandeep. She also llegedly that Gagandeep made physical relations with her after promising her marriage.
She further alleged that he had taken her to Surjamal Vihar in Shahdara where he made physical relations with her.
She also said that Gagandeep even took her to Amritsar and several other places and also his family members knew about their relationship.
Police further said that later she found out that the man was cheating on her.
A senior police officer said that an FIR was registered under sections 376 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code at Vivek Vihar Police Station.
