Mission to strengthen youths: 132 sports grounds, 100 gyms set up in 100 days

To commemorate the 44th Chess Olympiad tournament organized by International Chess Federation in India, Torch Relay was organized in Lucknow.

Lucknow: Ensuring the welfare of youths, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken various steps in creating an environment for their holistic development in the state. In pursuance of the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2022, the state has implemented schemes in the first 100 days of the second term of the government to promote sports and physical fitness.

Underlining the importance of sports, rules have been promulgated for the appointment of medal-winning sportspersons in international sports competitions to gazetted posts.

The posts of Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Finance Officer have been approved for Major Dhyan Chand Sports University which is being constructed in Meerut.

To commemorate the 44th Chess Olympiad tournament organized by International Chess Federation in India, Torch Relay was organized in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the first-ever torch relay for the Chess Olympiad.

Working towards the development of sports, a synthetic hockey field in Meerut, synthetic running track in Saharanpur and Varanasi, and a stadium in Jungle Kodia development block in Gorakhpur have been constructed. Along with that, the admission process has been completed in the sports colleges and hostels of the state.

Construction of as many as 132 sports grounds and the establishment of over 100 gyms have taken place in the state. Five projects have been completed under the Khelo India Mission including – Lucknow (Mau-Mohanlalganj), Basti (Bargadahiya – Sudipur), Barabanki (Dharauli), Sonbhadra (Nagaon), and Pilibhit (Simaria). The construction of one rural mini stadium at Agra (Chaharwati) and 2 at Hamirpur (Rath and Tikrauli) have been completed.

Mangal Dal has emerged as a great platform to connect youth with social concerns along with sports. Important works like Fit India, Namami Gange, Tree Plantation, Blood Donation, Cleanliness, Relief, and Rescue from covid were done by Mangal parties. 1000 Mangal Dals have been formed to take forward the work of youth welfare. Under the Provincial Rakshak Dal (PRD) 20,000 jawans are being given duty every month and these PRD jawans are being trained by the National Defense University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The establishment of the Chief Minister Adventure Award and Vivekananda Path Yojana is in the final stages and a decision on this subject will be announced soon.
