MNS vs Sena over Thackeray’s ultimatum on loudspeakers outside mosques; what they said

Thackeray’s ultimatum has drawn sharp response from Shiv Sena as it asked the former not to become thekedar of any religion and don’t attempt to teach Hindutav to Shiv Sena.

New Delhi: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday reiterated his demand for removal of loudspeakers from the mosques by May 3, the day when Ramzan gets over.

Thackeray’s ultimatum has drawn sharp response from Shiv Sena as it asked the former not to become thekedar of any religion and don’t attempt to teach Hindutav to Shiv Sena. Raut said that ‘rabble-rousers’ like him need to be given much importance, adding that it was only Bal Thackeray who had the power to issue ultimatums in Maharashtra.

Sanjay Raut also alleged that the MNS chief was acting at the behest of BJP and is trying to foment trouble. He said that BJP knows that it doesn’t have the gumption to take on Maha-Aghadi government and hence it is resorting to such tactics to destabilise the state govt.

Demand for removing loudspeakers is not new. Many known personalities like Sonu Nigam & Anuradha Paudwal have made similar demands in the past, reasoning that blaring loudspeakers adversely affect those living in surroundings and it will also cut down ‘noise pollution’.

Addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Thane, Raj Thackeray warned the Uddhav Thackeray to get the loudspeakers removed from mosques by May 3 else his partymen will act.

Addressing a huge gathering, he said that if state govt fails to address MNS demands, his party men will start playing Hanuman Chalisa outside the mosques.

Recently, MNS leader Yashwant Killedar was also detained by Police as he was playing ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ on a loudspeaker at Shiv Sena party headquarters.

He also asked the Modi government to formulate a law on Uniform Civil Code and population control as the explosive rate of growth needs to be stemmed in.
