Internet suspended in 7 districts after 6 killed in firing along Assam-Meghalaya border

Mukoh Firing: Meghalaya Government suspeded mobile internet services in seven districts.

New Delhi: Mobile Internet services have been suspended in the 7 districts for 48 hours from today (November 22, Tuesday) by the Meghalaya government following the firing incident in Mukoh where six persons were killed.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma while briefing about the incident in a press conference said six persons including five from Meghalaya and one Assam Forest Guard were killed in the incident.

He said that the injured were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Sangma said a magisterial inquiry will be initiated into the incident.

He also said that he has spoken to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma about the incident and he has assured cooperation.

CM also appealed to all the citizens of the state to maintain peace and harmony and also pray for the departed souls and their families.

He said the Government is taking all the necessary steps to maintain law and order in the state.

CM Conrad Sangma also informed that the State Govt has decided to cancel all official festivals including the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival.

According to reports, it is said that the firing incident took place at around 3:00 am today.
