Monkeypox virus confirmed in India: India issues travel advisory for international passengers; Details here

Here is everything you need to know about the advisory that has been issue for monkeypox.

New Delhi: The Indian government issued guidelines for the management of Monkeypox virus a day after one case has been confirmed in Kerala.

According to the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have asked international passengers to avoid any close contact with sick people, including those with skin lesions or genital lesions.

They have also advised to stay away from live or dead animals, including small mammals, rodents, and non-human primates like monkeys and apes.

This comes after a man in Kerala tested positive for the virus on Thursday. He had returned from UAE. To assist the state, the government has already sent a team comprising experts from the National Centre for Disease Control.

The advisory has also asked the travellers to avoid eating or preparing meat from wild animals.

To not and have any contact with the contaminated materials such as clothing, bedding, etc. used by sick people.

They have also asked people with Monkeypox-like symptoms, like fever and rash, to consult the nearest health centre.

The Ministry has also asked other states to stay alert and keep an eye on proper screening and testing measures all entry points.
