‘My family – My responsibility’ campaign in Maharashtra to tackle the Covid-19 menace

Maharashtra has conducted 50 lakh Covid tests till date. It’s recovery rate is over 70%. Pune is among the worst affected district in the state. Maharashtra alone accounts for over 28,000 deaths in the country due to virus infection.

New Delhi: As Maharashtra continues to grapple with the continuous spurt in Covid-19 cases, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced launch of ‘My family-My responsibility’ from September 15 to tackle the menace of Coronavirus in the state.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Maharashtra, fresh cases have been rising unabated and yesterday, it became the first state to record 10 lakh Coronavirus cases in the country.

Under this campaign, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will visit each and every household of the city and will extend medical help, counseling and extend any extra help, if needed.

“Let’s practice these guidelines on Individual, Family and Social levels for a COVID-free Mumbai,” BMC tweeted this morning.

‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign will be focused on providing health care education for the control of Covid-19 outbreak, said BMC commissioner IS Chahal.

The campaign that begins on September 15 will be conducted in two phases.

The Municipal body also took to social media to elaborate on three-pronged approach to take on the virus. It appealed city residents to take preventive precautions in personal, family, and public life.

BMC tweeted this morning:

1) Maintain safe distance, of at least 2 meters between each other.
2) Use masks regularly and properly
3) Wash your hands regularly and use sanitizer properly.

According to the Union Health Ministry, currently Maharashtra has around 2,80,138 active cases of COVID-19. So far, 7,28,512 have been cured and 29,115 have died after contracting the virus.
