Nagrota encounter: PM Modi salutes forces for thwarting terror plot in Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday saluted the security forces for their alertness and utmost bravery in thwarting a nefarious plot by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in Nagrota of Jammu & Kashmir.

The 4 Jaish terrorists were planning a major attack on the anniversary of 26/11 terror attack, reports said citing intelligence sources.

On 26th November, 2008, 10 LeT terrorists had carried out targeted shootings & bombings in Mumbai, leading to death of more than 160 people.

“Our security forces have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism. Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir,” PM Modi tweeted.

PM Modi said that large cache of weapons & explosives indicated that they were on a mission to wreak havoc.

“Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicates that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted,” tweeted PM Modi.

The Army jawans, in the wee hours of Thursday, gunned down 4 terrorists in a fierce gunbattle who were carrying about a dozen AK-47 weapons and huge amount of explosives, aimed at unleashing horror in the state.
