‘No one will cancel their programs…’: Rajnath Singh shares PM Modi’s message after his mother’s demise

Rajnath Singh said PM Modi’s mother passed away today but he asked everyone to cancel any of their programs anywhere and only return to Delhi after the completion of their programs. He also paid homage to her.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing a public meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, condoled the demise of Heeraben Modi. He said that PM Narendra Modi asked all the leaders to not cancel their programs and return to Delhi only after the completion. Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 90th Sivagiri pilgrimage at the Sivagiri Madhom.

PM Modi, after performing the last rites of his mother in Gandhinagar, attended the events in West Bengal virtually. He also flagged off the seventh Vande Bharat Express and inaugurated various developmental projects.

He also sought forgiveness from the public as he said that he was supposed to attend the event in person but could not due to personal reasons. CM Mamata Banerjee also condoled Heeraben Modi’s demise.

Heeraben Modi passed away at the age of 100 after being admitted to the hospital. PM Modi shared the news on his Twitter handle and paid his condolences. He reached Gujarat this morning and first paid tribute to his mother at her Raysan residence. PM then carried her mortal remains to the crematorium for the last rites and performed the funeral in Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, former CM Vijay Rupani, and Gujarat Cabinet Ministers also attended the funeral. Sharing the news on Twitter, PM also recalled meeting his mother on her 100th birthday.
