No ‘religious attire’ in schools, no meat shops in 100 metre vicinity of religious places: Delhi South MCD’s order

The chairperson of education committee of South Delhi MCD Nikita Sharma has written to concerned officials and asked them to ensure that no child comes to school in ‘religious attire’.
This comes days after a Class VI student’s parent complained to local MLA that his daughter was asked to remove her headscarf by her teacher. The matter pertained to a government school in Tukhmirpur.
Sharma, who is the councillor from Dwarka, said, “From time to time, the corporation keeps changing the colour of the uniform, due to which (uniform) there is no inferiority complex between the rich and poor children studying in school. It has been found recently that some parents send their children to school in religious attire, which is not right at all.”
No meat shop in 100 metre vicinity of religious places
Giving some relaxation in distance between meat shops & religious places, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has directed officials to reduce minimum distance between meat shops and religious places from 150 metres to 100 metres.
