
New Delhi: Amid the increasing threat of Covid-19 pandemic rearing its head again, the government has ramped up its vaccination drive to insulate the younger population from the contagious virus. Lakhs of children in the age group of 12-18 years have been vaccinated in last few days.
Now, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has facilitated further penetration of this inoculation drive. According to sources, Bharat Biotech’s vaccine Covaxin has been cleared for restricted emergency use vaccination of children in the age group of 6-12 years.

Highly places sources also say that the DGCI has granted emergency use authorisation to Corbevax for children with age group of 5-12 years.
The DCGI has extended emergency approval to another vaccine maker Zydus Cadilla for inoculating children above the age of 12 years, said reports.
