New Delhi: Undeterred by an ongoing cold wave, farmers continue to camp at different borders of the national capital as their protest against the Central government’s farm laws entered the twelfth day on Monday. Farmers have called for the Bharat Bandh on 8 December and as of right now the opposition parties, including People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, DMK, RJD, SP, NCP, and Congress party, have extended their support to the farmers.
With the ongoing farmers’ agitation at various places, multiple borders between Delhi and neighboring states have also been remained closed for traffic.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went to Singhu Border and alleged that the Centre tried to “pressure” the Delhi government to convert the nine stadiums into temporary prisons during the farmers’ ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest.
On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav was detained by police in Lucknow during demonstration in a protest rally against farm laws.
Government maintains that new farm laws are not meant to take away any of existing facility including MSP, it is rather aimed at multiplying their income. Latching on to the ongoing stir, Opposition parties have jumped into the controversy and are trying to exploit it for political benefit. Opposition’s propaganda stands exposed with admission of these farmers who claim that they don’t see anything anti-farmer in these farm laws.
Under this law, farmers will be able to sell their crops to another state and district and they will be able to determine the price of the produce in advance. New Farm laws will give a boost to the agricultural economy which will improve the conditions of farmers.

Maharashtra farmer Bhagwan Bhalerao has described the new agricultural laws as farmer-friendly. He said that ‘farmers are getting more benefit from the new agriculture bill’.
