Patiala clashes: Mobile internet services temporarily suspended, Hindu organizations call bandh

Both the groups pelted stones at each other and waved swords. Later the police pacified the matter

New Delhi: Four people, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between two groups in Punjab’s Patiala on Friday afternoon over an “anti-Khalistan march”. Both the groups pelted stones at each other and waved swords. Later the police pacified the matter. However, the situation became so tense that the administration had to impose a curfew.

According to the information, one group had tried to take out a march, which was opposed by the other. The police reportedly opened fire in the air to disperse the protesters.

Clashes took place outside the Kali Mata temple when Singla’s group started the ‘Khalistan Murdabad March’ from the nearby Arya Samaj Chowk.

Mobile internet services are temporarily suspended from 9:30 am to 6 pm in Patiala today, whereas several Hindu organizations have called a bandh regarding this matter.
